Funding Request Policy and Procedures

The funding request procedure for FRIENDS of Iowa Civil Rights Commission, Inc. (FRIENDS) requires all requestors to submit their funding request to FRIENDS quarterly, on or before the following dates:

  • January 1st
  • April 1st
  • July 1st
  • October 1st

Requests received outside the timeframes as listed, may not be considered until the next scheduled quarterly meeting. Please note that the normal giving range is $250-$500, exceptions may be considered on an individual basis.

FRIENDS Board meetings will be published annually and made available via the FRIENDS website. The website may be viewed at: http://www.iowafriends.org/.

Each requestor must submit a one-page electronic request detailing the amount of their request, what and how the money will be used, and a description of the impact their program/project/activity will have on the community. For example, if they are requesting funds to support a traveling reading program, they should provide details on whether or not this program will be local, or have statewide impact or if the program is geared for low income families, etc. Additionally, each grantee will be required within 30 days after their event/program, to submit a brief summary of how grant funds were actually used and shall provide details on the event/project including, but not limited to the number of participants (and/or other demographic data), date event was held, etc.

The FRIENDS funding request meeting will take place during a regularly scheduled board meeting whereby time will be set aside to review, discuss and decide, which (if any) requests will be granted. All requestors will receive written response of the Board’s decision.
